The 2004 BioBlitz

The Survey Site
The 2004 BioBlitz will be held in Hartford, at the new site for the Vermont Institute of Natural Science. Our survey area will be the VINS preserve along the Ottauquechee River (43.64318N x 72.41089W), adjoining Quechee State Park, as well as land along the Ottauquechee River toward North Hartland Dam.

These properties comprise a diverse mix of natural communities, including forested areas, openings, wetlands, ponds, rivers and streams, and (pending approval) the famed Quechee Gorge. You can download a Map of the Survey Site.

The Survey Period
The 24-hour survey clock starts ticking at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 25, and stops at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 26.

The Countdown Celebration Supper
Once the surveying is completed, everyone will take a breather for an hour, and then, at 4 p.m. on Saturday, we'll celebrate what we've found during a group supper at BioBlitz Central. During the meal group leaders will present results and describe some highlights. We'll also have a final tally of all species we've found.
