What's
A BioBlitz? A BioBlitz is a 24-hour race against time to identify every living thing at a selected park or some other property. But it's also much more than that. BioBlitzes are a blend of science, education, and celebration. What we discover during the Vermont BioBlitz will be documented on this web site and in reports available for use by planners, conservationists, municipalities and anyone interested in the biological diversity of Vermont. Although knowledgeable biologists perform much of the survey work, BioBlitzes welcome the general public as well. During the event, at BioBlitz Central, visitors can expect to find a site swarming with activity: birdwatchers consulting over an odd warbler sighting; entomologists sorting through hundreds of beetle specimens; moss experts working at microscopes; even a running slide show of what's being seen during the BioBlitz. Visitors will share in the excitement and the discoveries during the 24-hour event. The Vermont BioBlitz is planning an array of Public Events for the non-scientists. Why
Do It? For more information about BioBlitzes, you can consult a few additional web sites: |
