Public Events

Although scientists do most of the surveying during a BioBlitz, we encourage members of the public to attend. "BioBlitz Central" will be alive with activity. Visitors can expect to find a site swarming with activity: birdwatchers consulting over an odd warbler sighting; entomologists sorting through hundreds of beetle specimens; moss experts working at microscopes; even a running slide show of what's being seen during the BioBlitz. We'll offer guided tours around the survey site, as well as events for kids and families. Food and refreshments will be available for sale throughout the event.

Here's a preliminary schedule of public events during the 2004 BioBlitz. We'll outline more public events as we near the BioBlitz:

Saturday, June 26
- Guided nature walks around the site on the hour
- Live Hawk and Owl Program
- Activities for kids
- An ongoing slide show of some of the day's discoveries
3 p.m. - Surveying ends. Preliminary tally of all species encountered
