Volunteer Opportunities

Bird Rehabilitation and Animal Care:
Assist with all aspects of bird husbandry including: food prep and feeding, enclosure cleaning, basic maintenance and assisting with medical treatment. Must be 18 years old and be able to commit to weekly 4-hour shift.

Baby Bird Feeder:
Care for baby birds in the Rehabilitation Department during the summer months. Must be at least 10 years old and parent must stay to supervise, 3 ˝ hours per week (8 weeks minimum) commitment, June through August.

Bird Rescue and Transportation: Rescue and transport injured birds to the Wildlife Services Department at the VINS Nature Center in Quechee, VT. Must be at least 18 years old and have reliable transportation.

Raptor Docent:
Educate visitors and school groups through raptor programs with live birds. Must be able to commit to weekly 4-hour shifts, be at least 18 years old and participate in VINS' comprehensive training program.


VINS Nature Center Educator:
Help educate the public through a variety of programs including nature walks, the interactive mobile “Discovery Depots,” and our children's center, the Fledgling Corner.

VINS Nature Store Assistant:
Assist with customer care in our Nature Store, including ticketing, membership sales and stocking. You need to be able to commit to weekly 4-hour shifts.

Guest Services and Reception:
Greet and orient visitors to the VINS Nature Center which includes explaining events and programs, and suggesting the benefits of membership.

Office Support:
Help our administrative staff with office duties such as filing, bulk mailing, photocopying, collating, general research, data entry, typing, assembling educational packets and hanging special event posters in surrounding towns.

Gardening:
Weed and maintain garden areas, occasional watering and raking may be necessary.


Maintenance/Grounds:
Assist in repair, construction and upkeep of the facility.

Special Skills:
If you have skills in welding, carpentry, automotive repair, computers and would like to volunteer your services, VINS may be able to use your expertise.
