The Barred Owl is Vermont's most common and recognizable owl. Most often heard in the hours before dawn, with its distinctive call, "Who cooks for you, who cooks for all!". Barred Owls represent one of several wild raptors on permanent display at the VINS Nature Center in Quechee. The Quechee Barred Owl Blush is made from a blend of Vermont grown apples and plums. This semi-dry wine is a perfect accompaniment to chicken, pork or fish. The wine is available at the Ottauquechee Valley Winery on Route 4 east of Quechee Gorge, near New England Specialties, and is open every day from 10-5 year round. Lisa M.
