VINS BRINGS RAPTORS AND “RIVERS AND TIDES” TO VILLAGE PICTURE SHOWS
Manchester, VT – On Thursday, April 22, at 6:30 pm, the Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) and Village Picture Shows will present a one-time only screening of the award-winning documentary “Rivers and Tides: Andrew Goldsworthy Working With Time.”

This documentary follows the artist as he uses natural materials to create ephemeral sculptures in natural settings, and photographs them as they are worn away by wind, rain, tides, and time. The filmmaker captures the artist as he floats spirals of autumn leaves down a river and builds a giant orb from ice and twigs in the path of the Bay of Fundy’s rising tide. Goldsworthy’s photographs have become widely known through publication in a series of “coffee table” books such as Stone, Arch, and Andrew Goldsworthy: A Collaboration With Nature.

Co-sponsors for the event are Ward Kane Stonewalls, Bondville, VT, and BattenKill Canoe, Ltd.

VINS will bring two of its rehabilitated raptors to fly in the theater before the show! This will be a great chance to see these magnificant animals up close and to learn about their lives in a short presentation by VINS educators and bird handlers. Several attractive prizes will also be available with raffle tickets available at the door. These include daytrip canoe rentals from BattenKill Canoe, passes to the new VINS Raptor Center (opening June 12 in Quechee), and a book of Goldsworthy’s photographs.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $7.50 for kids 16 and under. Advance purchase is available by calling Village Picture Shows at (802) 362-2982.
