March 17, 2005

Woodstock, VT - The Conservation Biology Department at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) produces an annual publication entitled Feathers and Fir that summarizes some of its cutting edge Mountain Birdwatch research. Just released today, the 2005 issue contains a variety of important articles that I wanted to make sure you had an opportunity to see as soon as it became available in the hopes that you could help us spread the word to your constituents.

View the publication online at: http://www.vinsweb.org/assets/pdf/ffv38x11.pdf

You'll find reports on declining numbers of Bicknell's Thrush, Blackpoll Warbler, and White-throated Sparrow. It also contains articles on fir wave dynamics, the Kyoto Protocol, the Magnolia Warbler, bat deaths at ridgeline wind farms, and new findings in the field of mountain ecology.

If you like what you see, you may also want to check out earlier volumes posted at http://www.vinsweb.org/cbd/mtn_birdwatch.html

Our conservation biologists are available anytime for interviews and to assist with in-depth articles and features. We also have a whole host of photographs that could compliment any of these articles.

Thank you for your support.
