Equinox Preservation Trust Funds Camp Scholarships for the Vermont Institute of Natural Science Nature Day Camp

Quechee, VT- July 5, 2007- The Equinox Preservation Trust (EPT) of Manchester, Vermont has agreed to fund $2500 of full camp scholarships for day camps at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) branch in Manchester, Vermont.

VINS has partnered with local social service agencies in the region to offer scholarships to client families. Four Manchester area schools have identified eight children who will attend a week of nature day camp with their peers.

VINS Nature Day Camps are designed to give children a chance to discover the natural treasures and mysteries of the earth through outside exploration and investigation right in their own community. Campers' days are filled with activities, crafts, and games centered on the discovery of butterflies, plants, animals, mushrooms, and other local flora and fauna, as well as with good old-fashioned outdoor play.
The Equinox Preservation Trust Mission is: To encourage the responsible use of the land and protection of our natural and cultural history by providing the opportunity to interact with the environment through education, research and environmentally sensitive recreation.
For more than 30 years, VINS has nurtured children's interest in wildlife and the environment through both school-based environmental education programs and summer and holiday camps. By participating in VINS' programs, children of all ages learn the value and importance of being good stewards of the natural world.

Founded in 1972, The Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) is a non-profit 501©3, member supported organization headquartered in Quechee, Vermont. VINS' mission is to protect our natural heritage through education and research designed to engage individuals and communities in the active care of their environment.
