Holly Baker
Holly Baker graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2004 receiving a BS in Zoology. Through her study she gained valuable field experience with animal behavior and environmental science, realizing her desire to work with wildlife. In Australia, Holly spent August of 2003 on an internship working on a breeding project of highly endangered marsupials and maintaining feral free land through exclusion fencing for native mammals and birds. In 2004 she spent a semester in New Zealand studying research techniques, ecology, environmental policy and land management. In 2005 Holly worked as a lab preparatory for Shoals Marine Lab on Appledore Island. During Holly's stay she aided in research through the banding of passerines, gathered live specimens for use in the classrooms, acted as crew on the research vessels and maintained all labs and equipment. In early 2006 Holly joined the rehabilitation staff at Pelican Man's Bird Sanctuary in Florida, gaining valuable rehab experience with all types of birds and some reptiles. After Pelican Man's Bird Sanctuary closed in December, Holly continued to rehabilitate all injured, sick or orphaned wildlife at Peace River Wildlife Center. Holly now joins the staff at VINS to return to the north east and continue helping wildlife.
