Landscape Inventory and Assessment of VINS' Quechee Nature Center Property
The Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) purchased a 47-acre property along the Ottauquechee River in the Town of Hartford, Vermont, as the future site of their headquarters and visitor center. In order to ensure ecologically sound management and maximize the effectiveness of its educational programs, two graduate students conducted landscape analyses during 2002. Kerstin Lange, a Master's Candidate in the University of Vermont's Field Naturalist Program, inventoried the natural communities and amphibian populations at the site. Dan Ruddell, a Master's Candidate at the Antioch New England Graduate School, complimented this work by conducting a detailed vegetation inventory.
