When Should I Fill Out A Card?

Fill out a card for every active nest you find. Fill out a card for each nesting attempt by a pair, even if the same nest is re-used (see MULTIPLE NESTINGS). Fill out a card for each species found to be using a nest: a nest may be taken over by a new species. Try to fit the data for each nesting on a single card. However, if you need more room for comments and visits, staple a second card to the first and clearly label both.

While you may submit your completed nest cards anytime, most contributors wait until the end of the season and send us all of that year's cards at once. Please send cards to us by October 1 so that they may be included in the annual report. Records from earlier seasons, no matter how old, are very welcome. Click here to complete a nest card online!
