Thirty Years of Environmental Learning

ELF began in 1972, when VINS educators teamed up with parent volunteers in one elementary school to teach hands-on nature education. Since then, it has grown to include over 16,000 students and 1700 volunteers in 98 communities in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. Increasingly, ELF reaches beyond Vermont as parents and educators in other states and countries discover this effective, adaptable program.

"ELF...enriches our science curriculum - the activities are engaging for the students. The parent volunteers are exceptionally well-prepared. The connection this gives them with the school is powerful and positive. Teachers report they are thrilled with how ELF is delivered and with its content. Full support!!"
