NOW AVAILABLE! Small Wonders Curriculum Guide

The Small Wonders curriculum book contains:

  • Indoor and Outdoor Activities: Nearly three hundred hands-on experiments, crafts, games and activities are provided. All activities have been field-tested in the classroom, and honed by feedback from preschool teachers working daily with hundreds of children. The book is a “live” document, and like any good teaching tool, adaptable to individual teaching and learning styles.

  • Background natural history: each chapter begins with an introduction containing factual natural history information for the adult using the book.

  • Suggested children's readings: a list of fiction and non-fiction books appropriate for young children

  • Suggested adult resources: a list of recommended field guides and reference books.

  • Over 200 illustrations: the book contains over 400 accurate illustrations that are used in activities.

  • Reproducible handouts: many activities use game cards, matching cards, and puppets. These are all contained in the book and are easily reproduced.

  • Resources to send home: each unit contains a reproducible worksheet to send home to parents, with several activities that can be done around the home with an adult's supervision.

  • Index: the index contains easy-to-use references for activities and background information.

The book is now available for sale at the VINS Nature Shop in Quechee, VT or order online. For more information, please email education@vinsweb.org .
