LIVE BIRD PROGRAMS: Offered daily at 11:00 am, 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm Join us as we explore the natural world through the eyes of live raptors. Be amazed by these efficient predators in our engaging presentations featuring the VINS feathered ambassadors. Bird programs cover topics ranging from mechanics of flight, seasonal migration and avian conservation issues to the extraordinary abilities and adaptations of raptors. Through these in-depth and interactive programs, visitors gain newfound knowledge and appreciation of what it takes to survive in the wild.Programs change seasonally to reflect different themes. If you've seen it once you've not seen it this year! These programs will be primarily held outside in the hawk fly area. In Case of Rain these programs will be offered in the Pavilion! Get inspired by our Nature Center Avian Residents! Tour our 17 enclosures with 30 birds of prey including bald eagles, hawks, owls and falcons and learn about raptors and their important role in nature. Get an up-close view with our live raptor demonstrations and gain an in-depth understanding of these majestic birds. Small Wonders: insect photo exhibit Visit Fledgling Corner: poison dart frogs, native tank and touchable artifacts Nature Trails: Overlook a vernal pool, explore an old sugar bush and visit the bird blind on our nature trails to the Ottauquechee River.Interpretive trail guides available at the trailheads offer visitors a description of the fascinating history of the VINS 47-acre property. Meander through our butterfly and hummingbird garden and see kinetic sculpture by George Sherwood.Discovery Depot: interactive stations featuring hands-on educational activities You are welcome to use the covered picnic area for your picnic lunch!
