Thursday (4/17)

    11:00: Fast Flying Falcons: From the arctic gyrfalcon to the tiny kestrel, falcons dominate the skies. Discover the amazing aerialists that call New England their home and how truly spectacular they are.

    1:30: Spring in the Woods: Celebrate Spring by joining us for a guided walk in the woods. Explore the sights and sounds of this miraculous season and the new life all around.

    3:30: Raptors Up Close: This first-hand encounter with live falcons, hawks, and owls focuses on the natural history, ecology, and adaptations of these efficient predators. Touchable artifacts and hands-on materials round out this special experience.

Friday (4/18)
    11:00: Emerging from a Long Winter: Investigate the creatures who rely on the sun's warmth to be active. Find out what they're doing in our ponds and rock walls and listen to their calls.

    1:30: Spring in the Woods: Celebrate Spring by joining us for a guided walk in the woods. Explore the sights and sounds of this miraculous season and the new life all around.

    3:30: Raptors Up Close: This first-hand encounter with live falcons, hawks, and owls focuses on the natural history, ecology, and adaptations of these efficient predators. Touchable artifacts and hands-on materials round out this special experience.

Saturday (4/19)
EARTH DAY CELEBRATION!
    10:00: Finding Your Wings Workshop: learn about the birds that live in the Northeast, discovering bird identification through physical traits and beautiful songs. Afterwards, you can set out on a real adventure--a search for birds in your backyard or out in the great beyond. Lead by special guest, George Clark, Professor Emeritus of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Connecticut and former State Ornithologist of Connecticut.

    *This workshop is free for VINS members and included with admission to the Nature Center.

    11:00: Owls and their Calls: Ever wonder whooo's calling outside your window at night? Discover the owls behind the calls you hear in our New England woods.

    3:00: SPECIAL PROGRAM FOR EARTH DAY

    Amphibians of Vermont: Identification, Natural History, and Conservation

    Vermont Reptile & Amphibian Atlas Project

    VT Reptile and Amphibian Atlas Coordinator Jim Andrews will show slides of all of Vermont's amphibians and discuss their natural history, identification, and conservation. After the slide show and questions, we will see a short DVD on VT amphibian migration, listen to calls, and take a short walk to visit a nearby vernal pool and look for amphibians and their egg masses.

Sunday (4/20)
    11:00: Raptor Rescue: Go on a journey through the eyes of an injured bird from rescue to rehabilitation to eventual release. Meet a permanently injured bird and discover the dedication and effort it takes to care for captive animals.

    1:30: Spring in the Woods: Celebrate Spring by joining us for a guided walk in the woods. Explore the sights and sounds of this miraculous season and the new life all around.
