May 25, 2008 at 2:30pm The VINS Avian Rehabilitation Department takes in injured, ill and orphaned wild baby birds all summer long, typically taking in over 150 chicks each year. Baby birds in our care due to injuries or being orphaned require hand-feeding every half hour for 14 hours a day! Once they are able to fend for themselves, we release them back into the wild.
Join us on Sunday, May 25 during Raptor Appreciation Day for a special Baby Bird Shower. Visit our Nature Store and raptor exhibits before heading to Wildlife Services at 2:30pm. At that time, we will unveil Rehab in Action, a viewing area specifically designed to give you a peek into the work of a rehabilitator. Bring an item from our Wish List to the shower and be entered into a drawing for a nest box. Most needed items include:
Eukanuba kitten food Heating pads (without auto shut-off, please) Small, smooth ceramic pet dishes Spray bottles Monetary contributions to offset the following:
o medication for one cat-attacked baby bird ($10) o nesting materials for a dozen baby birds ($25) o worms for all our baby birds for a week ($50) o fledgling enclosure ($75) Your generous support helps us continue to care for species such as cardinals, robins, phoebes, swallows and doves. | ![]() ![]() | |||||||||||||||
